Description

Hardcover, tan cloth in non price-clipped dust-jacket. Foreword by Lieut.-Colonel Sir George Stewart Symes. Large fold-out color map at rear, 367pp., index 11pp. A series of chapters penned by former and current officials of the Sudan Government that deal with the broad lines of history, ethnography, faith and economics of the country. Meant as an instructional guide for newly joined members of the Sudan government. A fascintating glimpse at the workings, attitudes, and policies of the British Imperial administration in Africa. Several pages with extremely neat marginalia in English and Arabic in former owner’s hand, with his name neatly inscribed on fly and dated al- Khartum ’42. Gilt letterng on spine bright and dust-jacket shows toning from age and light edge-wear, otherwise complete and in very good condition. A very nice copy of a scarce title, especially in dust-jacket.
