Description

Two large volumes, bound in white linen, lettered in gold on spine and with gilt crest on upper covers. Present are original red cloth dust-jackets. Limited Large Paper Edition, this being number 16 of 150 copies printed. 416 and 456 pages respectively, with comprehensive index at end of volume II. Illustrated with 49 photogravures, all with tissue guards intact and a color fold-out map of the rail-roads of London at rear of volume II. A history of the city of London from its beginnings as Roman Londinium [first century AD] to the reign of Edward VII. No previous ownership marks. Dust-jackets are age soiled and darkened. White linen covers show old damp-staining to heels of spine, not affecting interior. Inner hinges show some cracking to paper, albeit hinges are strong and solidly attached. Text block in both volumes deckle edged, and partially unopened. Text is clean and all plates are in excellent condition. A sound, square, internally clean set of this deluxe edition. Near very good in good dust-jackets. A large, heavy set, Priority and International orders will require additional postage. N.B. Foreign orders must ship Priority due to weight limitations.
