Illustrated with 7 of 8 black and white full page line drawings, plate facing page 46 not bound in at publisher. First edition, one of 2500 published, possibly an out of series copy. A first appearance in book form of an autobiographical tale of youthful sporting life in Scotland, originally published in Blackwood in 1828, and likened to Walton’s “Compleat Angler”. Light pencil erasure to fly, else no previous ownership marks. Mild toning to fore-edge of boards. A clean, square, unmarked copy. Near very good.
