Description
Hardcover, red cloth decorated in black with gold background for title on front cover and spine. 299 pages. Illustrated with numerous full page and vignette engravings. First edition [circa 1890]. Last page of text torn, lacking approximately half of vertical page. Cloth age soiled and lightly worn, private gift inscription on blank prelim. But for torn page a nice example of later nineteenth century true tales of adventure, in publisher’s original decorative binding. Book is sound, with strong hinges and no loose pages. Text and illustrations are clean, with only sporadic light foxing. Not ex-library. A scarce title, with only six copies located in World Catalog. Fair.
