Description

Hardcover, maroon colored cloth boldly lettered in white. 511 pp., This edition self-published and revised by author with his own illustrations and map endpapers copyrighted for the 7th edition. Originally published as Why Japan Was Strong, Signed copy by author on tipped in presentation leaf. A rambling and affectunate travlogue of ordinary people and places in China and Japan collected during the two decades leading up to the out-break of war. Whilst a patriot, the author displays an amazing affinity for the common people of Japan, [whilst still condemning her government]. An interesting travel book, first published in 1943, and reprinted often during the course of the war. No previous ownership marks. A very clean, square, fresh and unmarked copy. Near fine.
