Description
Trade paperback. 608 pages. Later printing, originally published in (1978) by this publisher. Translated from the original Spanish by Fiscar Marison. An abridgment of Mary of Agreda’s four volume history of the life of the Virgin Mary, written in the mid 17th century, and purportedly revealed to her in visions. Mary of Agreda [aka Abbess of Ágreda; The Lady in Blue; The Blue Nun] was a Conceptionist nun, a correspondent with the King Philip IV of Spain, and famously known for her mystical bilocation with the Jumano Indians of New Spain (what is today Texas and New Mexico). The Mystical City of God was condemned by the Inquisition, though Mary’s relationship with the King of Spain provided a remit of Rome’s ban within the borders of that kingdom. No previous ownership marks. No spine crease. A copy that does not appear to have been read, clean, tight and unmarked with sharp corners. Fine.
