This collaboration between the Brooklyn Museum and Abrams was published in conjunction with the trans American tour of an exhibition first presented at the former on October 17, 1986. Its theme, as espoused by its eponymous title, was to highlight the growing symbiosis between art and industry in the inter-war years, a period which gave rise to a number of aesthetic movements including Art Deco, Streamlined Modern, and the International Style.
