Illustrated with tinted frontispiece and 182 full page black and white plates, some fold-out, captioned in both English and German. A complete catalog of the artist’s work follows, including 392 entries, 83 of which are represented by small vignette black and white photographs. First edition, printed in the USSR. Referred to as “the Russian Rodin”, Konionkov was a Russian and Soviet sculptor whose work celebrated Russian cultural figures and the Bolshevik revolution. He also sent 22 years in the United States, before returning to Russia, where in contrast he created a large body of work focusing on Bible themes . No previous ownership marks. Slight bow to front boards and dust-jacket worn with several tears. Book is clean, tight and unmarked. A good or better copy in a fair dust-jacket.
