First edition of the exhibition catalog, published in conjunction with the eponymously named show that took place at Austellunghallen am Kulturforum, Berlin 15th April-18th June 2000, etc. A compilation of all the extant sheets of Botticelli’s drawings for the Divine Comedy, collected from several sources and now presented to the public in an exhibition which spanned three major European cities: Berlin, Rome and London. The catalog contains a full page illustration of each plate, accompanied by a commentary on Botticelli’s response to Dante’s poem. In addition, there are “seven authoritative essays on aspects of Botticelli’s and Dante’s work, on Divine Comedy illustration in general and on the technique of Botticelli’s drawings….” No previous ownership marks. A very small spot/mark to lower from fore-edge, else an as new copy in dust-jacket. Near fine in a fine dust-jacket.
