Titles are: I: Pre-Historic Period – Nara Period (3rdB.C.- 793A.D.) II: Early Heian Period – Kamakura Period (794-1333). III: Muromachi Period – Early Edo Period (1334-1715). IV: Late Edo Period – Postwar Period. Illustrated with a total of 356 color and 676 gravure plates. First American edition, originally published a year earlies in Japan by Kadokawa Shoton Publishing Company, Tokyo. Printed in Japan. Most color plates have tissue guards, laid-in loose and showing some edge-wear. Mild fading to spines to deep maroon. No previous ownership marks. A clean, tight, fresh and unmarked set. Near fine.
