Second edition containing an engraved title dated 1863 and a printed title dated 1864. Illustrated with 40 steel engravings by Crowquill and 33 woodcuts. First published in 1839 by Reynolds, who himself was a popular novelist of the period, and riding the wave of Pickwick popularity, the novel was reprinted several times. A clean copy with no foxing to plates or text. Old stain at very bottom fore-edge corner of engraved title. Former owner’s book plate inside front cover.
