Plates are printed on rectos only, with corresponding letterpress on facing versos. First edition thus of the Popular Edition, stated first printing. This is volumes 4 of the original six volume set, reduced from folio to octavo for this edition and unabridged. Previous owner’s small name stamp on dust-jacket and front free end-paper. Small chip to jacket at top of spine and light wear to upper back panel. Minor toning to end-papers and small crease to lower corner of one plate, else a clean, tight, fresh and unmarked copy. Very good+ in a good dust-jacket.
