The author, the son of German immigrants, was born in Manhattan in 1859 and relocated to East New York with his family shortly afterwards in 1860. This book was written when he was 88 years of age and “is based largely on the writer’s personal observation and knowledge of East New York during his life-long residence there.” Boldly signed by author on copyright page, to Frederick G. Zimmerle. Very mild stains to cloth, else a clean, square, fresh and unmarked copy. Near fine.
