Large folio size softcover, disbound, with front and rear cover detached but present. Tri-lingual edition in English, French and Spanish. Comments on the cathedral by J.-K. Huymans and Auguste Rodin provide prefatory text, along with contents page explaining each of the 35 photographic illustrations. Photographs by Andre Vigneau. TEL had published earlier editions in different formats, this s the 1949 issue of this title. The images concentrate on the High Gothic and Romanesque detailed sculpture adorning the portals and other decorative details. Covers show considerable edge-wear and paper (post-war) has browned. All plates are present and undamaged. Appears never have to been bound, as there are no staple holes at spine gutter. Sold as a vintage collection of illustrations depicting the exterior of Chartres Cathedral. As a book condition is poor, as a collection of plates and images near good. Sold as-is.
