Large hardcover volumes, red cloth lettered in gold on spines, in protective mylar esatz dust-wrappers. Profusely illustrated with color and monochrome photographs, and containing numerous brief articles by various authors. A privately and professionally bound two volume set utilizing the illustrated periodical “History of the Second World War”. Each book protected by mylar cover into which has been mounted color plates on front and rear boards, both dust-jacket spines entitled “Drang Nach Osten” [Penetrating into the East] with vol. numbers, both in black. Individual titles for each volume printed in red: “Poland, Finland and the Balkans 1939-1941” Vol. I and “Barbarossa to Gotterdammerung” Vol II. Numerous articles parsed from the 96 issue periodical and bound sequentially without covers focus on the war in the East: its beginnnings, its participants, battles waged, and eventual defeat of Nazi Germany. Included also is a small archive of brief news articles [6] dealing with the Katyn Massacre. All are laminated and liad-in loose. A very good set with no previous ownership marks, no writing or marking, and strong, well executed cloth covers. A very good or better, truly unique set.
