Description
Hardcover, cream cloth spine over brown paper covered boards. Printed paper spine and cover labels extant. 46 pages. First edition of 500 copies. The first edition of the poets first book, a vanity publication, printed at Jeffers’ own expense in an edition of 500 copies, of which 480 were sold by the printer to a San Francisco used book store. A fragile little book in exceptionally good condition. Mild wear to paper spine label [no loss] and several small scrapes to front board, else a clean, square, unmarked copy. No previous ownership marks or book-plates. Housed in a custom slipcase with folding inner sleeve and black leather label ruled and lettered in gold on spine. A near fine copy in a fine slipcase of a very scarce Jeffers title. [Alberts 13]
