Description
Hardcover, bound in genuine tan goatskin with all edges gilt, raised spine lettered in gold and covers brass die-stamped in 22kt gold. Additional refinements include bound in silk ribbon marker and marbled end-papers. This special limited Latin facsimile was prepared from an original 1628 Francofurti [Frankfurt] edition furnished to the Publisher by Yale Medical Library; the Geoffrey Keynes English translation was prepared from a Nonesuch edition of 1928. Original subscriber’s personalized book-plate not present in this copy, albeit nearly all other copies from his library contained his plate, indicating that this is number 921 of an unspecified limitation. A quality bilingual leather-bound edition of Harvey’s landmark work of the circulation of the blood. This copy is stamped with the winged twin serpent staff (Caduceus) on both covers, indicating it is a later reprint, circa 1990. A clean, unread and near as new copy. Near fine.
