Additional refinements include bound in silk ribbon marker, raised spine hubs and specially commissioned marbled end-papers by Richard J. Wolfe. This special limited edition was prepared from the rare 1659 edition courtesy of the Harvey Cushing/ John Hay Whitney Medical Library at Yale University. First edition thus of a limited edition, this being number 921, with original subscriber’s personalized book-plate, bearing limitation number, unused and laid-in loose. This 17th century medical tome aimed to make health care accessible to the general public by making available cheaper homeopathic cures and alternative medical cures where the focus was on affordability and practicality. Some pages, in Tables at rear, reproduced by film from the Yale copy show ink blotches from the original 17th century printing. A clean, fresh and unmarked copy, pristine and as new.
