Description

Hardcover, light maroon cloth lettered in gold on spine, no dust-jacket as issued. 669 pages, with a suite of 16 plates appended containing photocopies of title-pages and text pages from historically significant works. An important bibliography compiled by Oxford educated British chemist Denis Duveen (1910-1992), Fellow of the Royal Institute of Chemistry and other academic societies containing over 2000 works, from the 16th to the 19th centuries. Entries are in English, Latin, German, French, Italian, and Spanish. The copy offered is published by Martino Published [date unknown but most likely 1995 to 2000] and is a facsimile of the E. Weil edition published in London in the year 1949. The Weil title page is reproduced and no other bibliographical information is included, except that the spine is printed with the Martino Publishing logo. Inside front cover is covered with page numbers and some brief writing, indicating title locations throughout the book which bear short marginal annotations or in many cases are simply marked by an “X”. An obvious working copy [publisher’s?] the book is never-the-less in near fine condition physically with approximately 50 pages showing annotations described above. Still a very good copy of an important reference.
