Description
Small hardcover, red cloth in publisher’s colorful non price-clipped pictorial dust-jacket. 234 pages. Includes a glossary, bibliography and an index. Editor of the English version Kenneth Munson. Translated by Erik Hildesheim. Color illustrations throughout by Otto Frello. Stated first American edition. A small tome, printed in double column format, whose considerable amount of information on the history and development of balloons and airships belies its size. Ege, a noted Danish aviation historian, presents eighty examples of balloons and airships from 1783 to the present, focusing “in part (on) those balloons and airships which represent definite steps in the development of aeronautics generally and in part those which left their indelible impressions in that field.” No previous ownership marks. Dust-jacket complete, albeit shows small rubbed area and tiny hole at upper rear fore-edge. Else book is clean, tight, and unmarked. Very good in a good dust-jacket.
