Hardcover, quarto size volume bound in black leather with raised spine and gold lettering. All edges gilt. Bound in ribbon marker. 575 pages. Illustrated with seven plates, each accompanied by letter-press explanation on the facing page. Special edition published for The Classics of medicine Library (1982) from an original edition of 1794, courtesy of the Yale Medical Library. This work is bound in genuine top grain cowhide, with specially commissioned marbled end-papers and brass-die stamped in 22kt gold on covers. As with the original posthumously published edition, this facsimile contains a short account of the author’s life by his brother-in-law, Everard Home Previous owner’s personalized book plate from publisher laid-in loose, indicating this was copy 921 of a limited edition. Book-plate had been affixed to second leaf as evidence by light marks from adhesive. A clean, tight, fresh and unmarked copy, appears unread and like new but for marks mentioned above.
