Illustrated with photographs by various 19th century photographers and a frontispiece photograph of Burton by Ernest Edwards. Folded map laid-in loose as issued. First Folio Society edition, with text that follows the 1879 edition published by William Mullen and Son, with minor emendations, and with the omission from the Appendices of A. Sprenger’s “Notes on My Journey”. No previous ownership marks or book-plates. A clean, tight, fresh and unmarked copy, appears unread and like new. Slipcase exhibits some minor surface scuffing, else clean and solid with no bumps or splits. A fine copy in a near fine slipcase.
