A signed presentation copy by author, boldly written to Miss Mollie Kreutzer, whose aide is acknowledged in the books’ publication. Her name also appears on page XIV of the Preface among many whose contributors the author mentions. Emma Cecilia Thursby (February 21, 1845 – July 4, 1931) was an American singer popular in Europe and the United States. Born in Williamsburg, Brooklyn she remained a lifelong resident of New York City whilst embarking on a successful career as a concert singer performing both domesticvally and in London, France, and Germany, and sharing the bill with the likes of Mark Twain. Her papers were donated to the New York Historical Society by her surviving sister and form the basis for the present biography. No previous ownership marks. Dust-jacket fragments are worn, though book is clean, square and unmarked. A very good+ signed presentation copy.
