Hardcover, red cloth. A privately compiled and professionally bound volume in quarto red cloth covers. A selection of articles extracted from Purnell’s “History of the First World War ” periodical which ran to 126 numbers between 1969 and 1971. All articles deal with air combat and equipment of the Great War. Covers are covered by mylar protective wrapper into which has been mounted a part cover entitled “Dog-Fight: A Pilot’s-Eye View”. Approximately 100 pages profusely illustrated with color drawings and monochrome photographs. Ersatz dust-jacket has paste show through from mounting to paper backing. Several pages have extra illustrations crudely pasted in, but overall a superior effort in a strong, square, very clean cloth cover. Articles include: “Aircraft: A New Factor in War”; “The Great Retreat: An Airman’s View”; “The First Zeppelin Raids”; “The Air War: Stepping Up the Zeppelin Raids”; “The Aces”; et alia.
