Very Good/No Jacket. Later 19th century half-leather over marbled boards. Text in French. Raised spine decorated in gilt, t.e.g., marbled endpapers, etc. Two bookplates insi de front cover. Half-title shows strip excised from top edge, extending to gutter. Extensively illustrated with vignettes by Jean Gigoux. Sporadic foxing, heavy at times. Raised bands of backstrip rub bed as well as extremities, boards show moderate shelfwear. Still a handsome copy of this 18th century French classic in attractive binding. Text in French.
