Description
Original Cloth. Original fine rib-grain white cloth stamped in gilt and in blind; pale yellow endpapers; binder’s septuple flyleaves at front and back. Cloth is darkened and age soiled, with rear board showing several darker spots, and backstrip chipped at top and bottom. Interior foxed and text pages browned. Twelve full page illustrations on whiter stock than text and very clean with virtually no foxing to images. Though the illustrations are essentially the same as the those which adorned the English edition, several have been modified to include additional material. The artists are D. Maclish [2], R. Doyle [4], J. Leech [5] and C. Stanfielf [1]. A very scarce imprint, usually found in blue cloth, of the first American edition of Dickens’s second Christmas book. Quite soiled, with moderate wear to cloth, else a good soild copy.
