Description
Hardcover, large oblong folio bound in red buckram spine, lettered in gold, over dark blue cloth covers, in publisher’s non price-clipped dust-jacket. Foreword by Ansel Adams. Prefatory essay entitled “Yosemite: The Seeing Eye and the Written Word” by Paul Brooks. Illustrated with 116 full page captioned monochrome photographs and 7 vignette photographs in foreword. First edition, stated first printing. The label “timeless masterpiece” used to describe this work of “meticulously curated black-and-white photographs of Yosemite National Park and the wider Sierra Nevada” is not hyperbole, but rather if possible, understatement. No previous ownership marks. Book shows fading to extremities of cloth covers and light, sporadic foxing to edges of first and last leafs. Top edge of bulked sheets also shows moderate foxing, not affecting interior. All photographs and text are clean and unmarked. Book is tight and otherwise clean. Dust-jacket shows one or two small foxed spots, else is complete with no tears or chips and only minor creasing to some edges. A good or better copy in like dust-jacket of the scarce first printing. Media mail shipping only.
