Three volumes Vol. I 1812-1842, 1872; Vol. II 1842-1852, 1873; Vol. III 1852-1870, Gilt spine lettering slightly dulled and spines faded to light brown as per usual with this edition. Illustrated with steel engraved plates. A very nice set of this classic Dickens nineteenth century biography, as much a memoir of John Forster, as some critics argue, as it is an exposition of the life of “the inimitable Boz”. Volume II contains publisher’s ads appended at rear. No name, no book-plate, no writing or marking, etc. Incidental shelfwear to some boards. A truly well preserved set. Scarce. Very good+.
