Hardcover in original publisher’s non price-clipped dust-jacket. 129 pages. First trade edition, one of only 3,000 printed. Inscribed and signed by Jeffers to A.W. Peterson at Tor House, Carmel, California, August, 1939. An exceptional copy with no previous ownership marks or labels. Book is clean, square, fresh and unmarked. Dust-jacket shows two small closed tears on lower front panel, else fine. The volume contains two longer poems, the eponymous titled ‘Dear Judas’ and ‘The Loving Shepherdess’, plus six other poems. Purchased in the late 1980’s, by previous owner, at one of the six Christie’s sales of the Doheny collection. Housed in a marvelous multi-colored half-leather modernist slipcase with inner clamshell sleeve. A fine inscribed copy in a very good+ dust-jacket, now protected by acetate cover, the whole presented in a magnificent near fine custom book box.. [Albert 60]
